Operating for more than 50 years, Cataloochee Ski Area is your mountain top skiing and snowboarding getaway when visiting Maggie Valley NC.  With 16 lighted and thrilling slopes and trails, the "Great Skiing in the Smokies" is beckoning your call.  Ski terrain is available for beginners to experts and the lodge has more than 4,000 sets of ski and snowboarding equipment.

Their PSIA and AASI member Maggie Valley Ski and Snowboard School offers instruction for all ages and abilities along with a Children’s Learning Center featuring their Cat Trackers program for kids ages 4-12. In the lodge, a fireplace and cozy atmosphere await you along with an on-mountain restaurant offering three ala carte meals daily and a lounge with full ABC permits.

Best of all, Cataloochee Maggie Valley Ski is centrally located only 35 miles west of Asheville, 3 hours north of Atlanta, 1 ¾ hours from the Greenville/Spartanburg and Knoxville areas with easy four lane access from each. With great midweek packages including a Drive, Slide and Stay and Kids Ski and Stay FREE programs, Cataloochee makes economical winter fun closer than you think!

Slopes open the first of November each year (or earlier, weather permitting).  In 2013, Cataloochee Ski saw more than 130 days of skiing.  During the season the slopes and lifts were open from 9 - 4:30 during weekdays, and 1pm-10pm (Twilight), 6pm-10pm (Night) and 9am-10pm (Marathon).  There is not night or twilight skiing on Sunday or Monday evenings.

Lift tickets range from $23 to $54 for during the week, and up to $61 on the weekends.  Children 4 and younger are permitted free.  Season passes range from $300 to $1100.

You can rent skis, snowboards, helmets, gloves, goggles, sunglasses, hats, etc. and buy lift tickets at the Cataloochee Ski & Sports shop.  While on the Mountain, visit the shop for souvenirs, t-shirts, jackets, etc.
